Find out about our Regional Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Advisory Committee (RFERAC), Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) and the Regional Environment Protection Advisory Committee (REPAC) within each of our regions.
Regional Flood and Coastal Committees (RFCCs)
RFCCs play an important local role in guiding flood and coastal risk management activities within catchments and along the coast, advising on and approving programmes of work for their areas as well as raising local levies to fund local priority projects and works in partnership with others.
Chairs
The Secretary of State is looking to appoint Chairs to the Environment Agency's Regional Flood and Coastal Committees. This is an exciting opportunity to help reduce the risk of flooding for thousands of homes and businesses.
There are four vacancies for Chairs for the Committees in East Anglia, Southern England and for two new proposed Committees in the Midlands (subject to formal approval).
How to apply
For details of how to apply please visit Defra's public appointments web page and click on post under 'Current Opportunities'.
The closing date for applications is 29 February 2012.
Members
We will soon be recruiting for a number of independent members for the new Committees in the Midlands. We will be looking for skilled and experienced individuals, with an interest in flood and coastal management. These are not paid roles, but reasonable expenses can be claimed. RFCCs meet four or five times a year, with occasional sub-committee work between official meetings.
Recruitment for members is expected to start in March 2012. Once recruitment has started we will update this page with further details. In the meantime please contact Aqeela Akhter by email or telephone on 0121 711 5860.
