There are five statutory committees in the Anglian Region, each with their own responsibility and each contributing towards making the region a better place.
Introduction to Anglian Region Committees
Anglian Region has five Statutory Regional Committees. These are:
- Regional Environment Protection Advisory Committee(REPAC)
- Regional Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Committee(RFERAC)
- Anglian (Northern) Regional Flood and Coastal Committee(RFCC)
- Anglian (Central) Regional Flood and Coastal Committee(RFCC)
- Anglian (Eastern) Regional Flood and Coastal Committee(RFCC)
The committees were set up by Parliament under The Environment Act 1995 and the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. The committees allow the Environment Agency to consult with and receive advice from a wide range of interests.
In October 2010, as part of the Arms Length Body Review, Defra announced proposals for the Environment Agency’s statutory Environment Protection Advisory Committees (EPACs), and Regional and Local Fisheries Advisory Committees (also known as the Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Advisory Committee – FERAC) to be abolished in the Public Bodies Bill.
The Defra consultation was launched on the 1 November 2011 and will close on the 23 January 2012. Information can be found on the Defra website.
