Waste batteries

If you are involved in dealing with waste batteries, you will need to apply for approval from us.

This includes if you:

  • Treat and recycle waste industrial and/or automotive batteries;
  • Export waste industrial and/or automotive batteries for treatment and/or recycling overseas;
  • Would like to issue batteries evidence notes for waste portable batteries that have been treated and/or recycled in the UK;
  • Would like to issue batteries evidence notes for waste portable batteries that have been treated and/or recycled overseas.
