Working with others

Find out more about our work in the nuclear sector.

How we work with others

We work in co-operation with the nuclear industry and other organisations.

We work with nuclear sites and the Office for Nuclear Regulation.

Working with nuclear site operators

The Nuclear Industry Liaison Group (NILG) is a forum for discussions between ourselves and operators of nuclear licensed sites.

Other interested groups such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the Food Standards Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) also attend meetings.

NILG aims to promote a consistent approach and best practice across the nuclear sector.

Market research

We have carried out market research to help us:

  • benchmark current awareness and understanding of the nuclear new-build programme at a local and national level
  • explore levels of understanding of the roles that the Environment Agency and Office for Nuclear Regulation have in relation to nuclear new-build – and public trust in their regulatory role
  • explore to what extent the public feel involved in the decision making
  • identify how best to communicate with the public.
