Good practice

We want to co-operate with dairy farmers and promote farming practices that are good for the environment and farming

Environmental plan for dairy farming

We have been working with the National Farmers Union and the Milk Development Council to produce an environmental plan for the dairy industry that:

  • lists environmental problems, causes, best-practice solutions and regulatory solutions
  • highlights contributions from farmers who develop and promote best practice
  • sets environmental targets for dairy farming and reports annually 
  • communicates our plan for working with you to reduce the environmental impact of dairy farming.

The environmental plan is voluntary and may reduce the need for future regulation. It may also serve as a model for other agricultural sectors.
