The most important elements of a green roof are the substrates that provide a medium for the plants to grow and the vegetation itself.
Our vision for green roofs can be best achieved if the substrate and associated elements are considered at the beginning of the design process.
Once these have been decided, the engineering challenges of loading and storm water run-off need to be considered. This approach is consistent with the Living Roof Policy in the London Plan.
