April 2011: Phase III data submissions - request for additional data

We have sent out a request for the additional data required to determine the levels of free allocation for installations. This additional data includes production data for some additional products that have been given a product benchmark and 2009 to 2010 data (as opposed to 2005 to 2008) where activity levels in 2009 and 2010 are higher.   

There is also some additional data which operators must submit as it is required by the allocation rules. This data includes the provision of installed capacity data for product benchmarks, emissions data and a methodology report for detailing how the data you supply has been collected.   A request for additional data has been sent to operators who believe they will be included in this data collection. The deadline for the submission of the completed forms is 13 June 2011.

March 2010: Phase III data submissions - frequently asked questions

A frequently asked questions (FAQ) document is now available on our ‘forms and guidance’ page and will be regularly updated. The FAQ addresses the issues raised by operators and will be updated to include questions relating to verification.

We published the dates for data submissions in December 2009. They are:

  • unverified production data and other related data must be submitted by 30 April 2010; 
  • verified production data and other related data must be submitted by 30 June 2010.

We still need to know about any operators who think they may be caught under Phase III of EU ETS. Please refer to our Phase III page for more information about what you need to do:

February 2010: Phase III forms and guidance published

We have published the forms and guidance to help operators who are required to submit data in relation to the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data and National Implementation Measures Regulations 2009.

January 2010: Joint consultation opens on Small Emitter and Hospital Opt-out (Phase III) and NER ring-fence review (Phase II)

DECC has opened its joint consultation on two distinct EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) issues:

1. Excluding small emitters and hospitals from the EU ETS in Phase III (2013) pursuant to Article 27 of the revised EU ETS Directive.

2. The Government’s review of the Phase II Good Quality Combined Heat and Power New Entrant Reserve Ring-Fence in 2010.

December 2009: Transposing the Revised EU ETS Directive into UK law

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data and National Implementation Measures Regulations 2009

The first stage of the transposition of the Revised EU ETS Directive into UK law is well underway. Regulations concerning compliance with Article 9a(2) and Article 11 were laid before Parliament on 2 December 2009. These regulations will be introduced by 31 December 2009.
