What is the EU ETS Registry?

The registry is the system by which permitted companies are able to buy or sell carbon dioxide (CO₂) allowances. There is a registry in each of the European countries, that includes the UK , where allowances are allocated by the Government

The web-based database records:

the carbon dioxide allowances that installations are allocated
annual verified emissions entered by operators and verifiers
all transactions processed in the UK registry
annual reconciliation and allocation of allowances

To open an account online you need to:

complete the online application
nominate two account representatives
provide the identity documentation we ask for
pay the relevant fees
have a valid email address
purchase a digital certificate (we will tell you how to do this)
