Yorkshire & North East Committees

Yorkshire and North East Region has four Statutory Committees.

The advisory committees were set up by Parliament under The Environment Act 1995 and the Regional Flood and Coastal Committees under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.

In October 2010, as part of the Arms Length Body Review, Defra announced proposals for the Environment Agency’s statutory Environment Protection Advisory Committees (EPACs), and Regional and Local Fisheries Advisory Committees (also known as the Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Advisory Committee – FERAC) to be abolished in the Public Bodies Bill.

The Defra consultation to abolish the two advisory Committees was launched on 1 November 2011 and will close on the 23 January 2012. Information can be found on the Defra website.
