Comment on the environmental issues associated with our plans for managing flood risk in Morpeth.
Starting date: 11 February 2010
Closing date: 19 March 2010
Consultation summary
The Morpeth Flood Alleviation scheme is being developed to reduce the risk of flooding from the River Wansbeck and the main burns in the town. Following previous consultations, our solution for reducing this flood risk involves storing flood water upstream of Morpeth on the Mitford Estate; building new defences in the town where none currently exist; and replacing/refurbishing some of the existing defences.
This environmental scoping consultation document provides information on our plans, the potential environmental issues associated with it and any future work we will do to investigate and manage these issues. It also gives information on the consultation we have carried out to date.
How to respond to the consultation
You can respond on line or via post or email.
What happens next?
We will use responses to further inform our environmental assessment process for the Morpeth Flood Alleviation Scheme. Any suggestions on enhancement opportunities will be considered, and those that are environmentally, technically and economically feasible will be investigated further.
