A national charity initiative is funded and orgainised by the Freemasons organisation. Their aims are to bring an interactive and positive fishing experience to young people with special needs.
Northern Area FRB Technical Officer Reuben Page has recently been working with volunteers of the Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC) to widen the angling experience to include coarse fishing activities as well as those for fly fishing disciplines.
A recent event was held at Woodland Waters, Ancaster in Lincolnshire where 20 young people from two schools in Grantham enjoyed an excellent days fishing under the supervision of school staff and MTSFC angling volunteers. All the young participants caught fish, and following a BBQ lunch, were presented with an MTSFC Angling Certificate of Competence.
Further events are planned through the summer at other venues throughout Lincolnshire with equipment, advice and funding for coaching qualifications being made available by the Agency to assist in furthering this excellent initiative at a local level.
