Your licence, your money

Find out how we spend your licence money to protect and improve fisheries.

How we spend your money

We are often asked how we spend the income we receive from rod and net licence duties. If you would like to see where your money goes, you can download the report we compiled for our Regional Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Committee Chairs. It shows activity and expenditure for the 2009/10 year (1 April - 31 March):

A list of fishery improvement projects, referred to in the reports above, can be downloaded below:

The project list above is a summary only. If you would like more details on any of these projects please contact us by email at enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk or by phone on 0370 8506506.

Our local angling news pages give you some examples of how we are investing money near you to protect and improve fisheries.

Onlinefishing.tv

We have teamed up with TV channel onlinefishing.tv to bring you a programme about how we spend your licence money.

The show takes you to our fisheries laboratory at Brampton and to the Calverton fish farm. It also takes you out and about on rivers around the country with our teams, visiting a barbel refuge and flood refuge scheme, and an electrofishing operation. You can also witness a day in the life of our enforcement officers.
