Background information
The Lower Aire Flood Risk Management Strategy (LAFRMS) will set a framework for the strategic management of flood risk over the next 100 years in the Lower Aire catchment. This starts at Lemonroyd Weir, downstream of Leeds, and ends at the confluence with the River Ouse, near Airmyn. It will identify measures to manage flood risk to people, property, and the environment, in a sustainable manner.
We are working with organisations, businesses and communities to develop a range of solutions to help deal with flooding issues in this area of Yorkshire.
As part of the development of the LAFRMS, we will be undertaking a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). This enables us to identify environmental problems and opportunities relevant to the strategy study area are considered as we develop the options for managing flood risk.
The environmental scoping consultation document, available below, presents the longer list of options, environmental baseline information on the study area, and explains how we intend to carry out the environmental assessment of these options.
Consultation on this strategy has now closed but you can view a summary of the responses here.
