Public involvement process on new nuclear power station designs

On 10 September 2007, the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive launched the public involvement element of the Generic Design Assessment process.

This means you can view design information on the web and comment on the safety, security and environmental aspects of the new nuclear power station designs.

We also set up joint webpages with the Office for Nuclear Regulation which provide more information on the Generic Design Assessments (GDA).

Preliminary assessment

We considered comments received before the 4 January 2008 during the preliminary stage of our assessment. You can view our preliminary assessment reports on our joint webpages.

Detailed assessment

If we received your comments after 4 January 2008 and before 1 April 2010 they were considered in the detailed assessment stage if they related to a design that moved into that stage.

Relevant comments received after 1 April 2010 were picked up in our consultation which ran from June until October 2010.

We will still be able to receive comments via our joint website up until all outstanding GDA Issues have been resolved.

Further information

You can view the designs and comment on them by visiting the joint webpages.
