Significant flooding within Environment Agency Wales’ region occurred at four key locations in Herefordshire and in the Vale of Glamorgan.
In Herefordshire, prolonged heavy rain led to elevated river levels, such that rivers overspilled onto the adjacent natural flood plains and flooded properties located on the flood plains.
In the Vale of Glamorgan very heavy rainfall over a short period of time led to ‘flash’ flooding by both river water and surface water as urban drainage systems were unable to cope with the high volume of rainfall.
As the Environment Agency Wales boundary follows the river catchments so Bromyard, Earisland and Hampton Bishop are in England. We have also listed these places in our Midlands Region pages.
