Development and Flood Risk
We post monthly and annually our initial objections to proposed major developments.

Objections initially lodged on flood defence and water quality grounds
We have published this information to help Local Authorities monitor the performance of Local Plans with regard to flood risk and water quality objectives. The links below are to Environment Agency objections initially lodged on flood risk and water quality grounds in England and Wales, compiled as lists. To reduce file sizes and to maintain continuity with lists we have published in the past, the flood risk list information for England is split into groupings based on English Regions.
The lists are intended to be as inclusive as possible and produced annually. They are not updated to take account of any additional comments / consultation responses after the initial objection, as Local Authority records are more complete than ours. They provide a starting point and should be checked by Local Planning Authorities against their own records.
For further information on evidence and monitoring for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) please see our SEA pages.
21 Day report
Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 we are required to submit a report to the Department for Communities and Local Government on our performance as a statutory consultee in England in responding to consultations on planning applications and pre-application enquiries from developers within 21 days, or such longer period as may be agreed in writing.
