Our Marine strategy

Our Marine Strategy sets out our role in protecting the marine environment today and our priorities for the future.

We want to see a cleaner, healthier marine environment that will be a better place for people, wildlife and businesses. We will achieve this by putting the environment first, and by working in partnership with other regulators, businesses and local communities.

Our work will help the Governments in England and Wales achieve their goals for the marine environment.

We have four priorities in our strategy for the marine environment:

  1. Promoting sustainable development
  2. Integrating management between land and sea
  3. Efficiently regulating our coasts and seas
  4. Ensuring the marine environment is valued
